Do you want to come and work in a highly skilled, diverse and dynamic team working on cutting edge products and tools across a number of world class propulsion systems and vehicles? We are recruiting highly skilled engineers in CAE (1D) to join a highly technical team working in CAE for current and new technologies on an exciting range of electrified products to support the JLR reimagine strategy.
We are looking for a 1D CAE Process Development Lead to join the Propulsion System CAE team. Residing within the Propulsion Virtual Engineering group, we provide vehicle level performance and efficiency modelling across all electrified vehicle programmes. In the Process Development Lead role, you will be leading the continued provision of tailored, ‘fit-for-purpose’ processes and methods to maximise Propulsion System CAE Chapter's robustness & efficiency.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Creation and maintenance of non-ambiguous instructions and process optimisation for: a) CAE input data validation, b) generating attribute status, c) postprocessing and interpreting results and verification of the quality of output, d) data processing & visualisation solutions, e) file management and archiving the output of analysis
- Creation and maintenance of a central repository of the locally developed scripts and their version control
- Definition of the Non Geometric Data (NGD) usage in the model continuum and collaboration with System CAE Integration to standardise the NGD process for all xEV powerplants
- New System CAE Tool verification, testing and validation to define the confidence in the tool before it is used in the chapter and testcase and postprocessing alignment between different System CAE tools and also physical testing
- Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
As the Lead Propulsion System CAE Process
Lead you will need to hold a relevant formal qualification such as
degree or time served apprenticeship. You will need to have knowledge
and experience within the automotive powertrain industry with
knowledge in powertrain 1D modelling of both conventional and
electrified systems.
ESSENTIAL
- Proven capability to identify and implement tool and process improvements
- Proven success in complex system model validation, optimisation and correlation
- Substantial industrial experience of using 1D CAE toolsets to assess and verify vehicle/powertrain efficiency and performance
- Good analytical capability and breadth of CAE experience in Matlab/Simulink
- Able to identify and respond to the strengths and limitations of computer-based modelling and simulation
