About the role:

We’re looking to recruit permanent Anti-Social Behaviour Officer’s to join the Council’s ASB Team.

The ASB Team is leading the Council’s response to addressing ASB by resolving issues using a tenure neutral multi-agency approach to reduce ASB in Waltham Forest.

We are looking for motivated and dedicated officers with demonstrable experience of dealing with both low level and complex anti-social behaviour casework. The appointed officer will be an effective communicator with excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills, with a pragmatic and flexible approach to all aspects of their work.

To undertake the Council’s statutory functions in relation to anti-social behaviour prevention and enforcement in a given field/area including ensuring compliance with codes of practice, guidance and legislation. To undertake investigations in connection with the administration of submitted licence applications in order to appropriately determine these applications.

As a front-line field officer, to play an active and proactive role in the practical delivery of the Directorate’s commercialisation programme and the generation of income, a major corporate priority. To constantly look to identify and develop innovative commercial opportunities and interventions as an integral part of day to day contact with residents, businesses and other service areas.

Key Responsibilities:

The appointed officer will:

Manage a caseload of complex and high level anti-social behaviour cases and where necessary identify and pursue legal actions such as Premises Closure Orders, Civil Injunctions and Criminal Behaviour Orders to resolve the issues.

Have a problem-solving approach to addressing anti-social behaviour. 

Liaise with our legal team to progress cases through civil and criminal courts including taking witness statements, compiling evidence bundles, attending court hearings and presenting cases.

Undertake comprehensive investigations and seek to resolve complaints of anti-social behaviour and nuisance in the borough via low level interventions/ASB remedies.

Liaise with Police, Neighbourhood Officers, Selective Licensing Team, Housing and other agencies to ensure the efficient and effective management of each case.

Maintain comprehensive case management notes ensuring all systems are kept up to date.

Be involved in regular partnership Operations with Police including joint patrols.

Enforce the borough’s Public Space Protection Order (PSPO).

Be involved in weekend and evening work to meet the needs of the service.

Regularly liaise with local Councillors and attend ward walks.
