Full Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate individual to join our client's team as an Accommodation Assessment & Lettings Officer. In this role, you will be responsible for allocating emergency temporary accommodation, setting up rent accounts, and discharging interim and full housing duty in accordance with the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Allocate emergency temporary accommodation to eligible individuals and families in need, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations and organisational policies
  • Set up rent accounts and provide relevant information to tenants regarding their rights and responsibilities
  • Participate in a duty rota system to respond to inquiries, assess housing needs, and make appropriate accommodation offers
  • Serve as a point of contact for clients placed in emergency accommodation, addressing queries and concerns in a timely and empathetic manner
  • Work collaboratively with other team members and external agencies to coordinate support services for vulnerable clients
  • Maintain accurate records and databases, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations and reporting requirements
  • Keep abreast of changes in legislation and best practices related to homelessness and housing provision
Requirements:

  • Good understanding of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and relevant housing legislation
  • Previous experience delivering front-line services to vulnerable clients, preferably within a housing or homelessness support setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to empathise and build rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage a demanding workload effectively
  • Ability to work flexibly as part of a team and independently under pressure
  • Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in service delivery
  • Strong IT skills
This role will be on a temporary basis to start in May for a period of 12 months.
