Accountant - Group Income Statement

This role sits in AstraZeneca’s Group Financial Reporting section. You will report to the GPO- Intercompany Inventory Elimination and work closely with the Group Consolidation Team.  You will have the opportunity to see at first hand, and be closely involved in, the process for announcing results. In addition, you will provide specialist advice and guidance to the business to enable accurate and timely financial reporting.

You will work in our Eastbrook House office in central Cambridge, our global headquarters, linking closely with the rest of the team virtually.

What you’ll do

You will use AstraZeneca’s Intercompany Profit Elimination Tool, in reporting Unrealised Profit in Stock (PURP) for month end reporting to ensure accurate calculation and interface into Group Consolidation system- ERH.

You will be responsible for the calculation and processing of manual adjustments for PURP and complete the key monthly reconciliation between statutory and management cost of sales (‘The Gap’), driving ongoing improvement of the reconciliation.

As a member of the Group Consolidation Team you will prepare and review the group statutory profit schedules, including analysing underlying trends and operating and evidencing compliance with key monthly, quarterly and annual SOX controls.

You will assist in the preparation of the Annual Report & 20-F; Interim Financial Statements and Press Releases.

You will undertake a full review of existing activities and drive simplification and continuous improvement of the Group reporting systems, process and reports.

You will prepare quality financial analysis and develop recommendations to remediate reporting errors and complexities.

As a member of Group Financial Reporting, you will liaise regularly with many internal partners and our external auditors.

 

Essential for the role

  • Qualified accountant with more than 1 year post qualification experience

  • Significant experience of financial statement preparation and consolidation

  • Experience of financial control frameworks

  • Experience and usage of SAP system

  • Focuses On Delivery – applies experience and expertise to ensure objectives are met even when under pressure.

  • Problem Solving & Decision Making – able to identify, analyse and offer other solutions to complex problems.

  • Leadership & Development – excellent team working

Desirable for the role
