Job Description
IWI’s Advocacy Researcher is
responsible for assisting the team in the administration of its
functions. The Advocacy Researcher helps with the advocacy team’s
programmes and campaigns; tracking trends; assist with developing
promotional materials; maintaining databases; and preparing reports.
Normally performs tasks with work priorities and general instructions
provided by the director. Exercises judgment in selecting and applying
established procedures correctly and in determining when to refer
problems to the director. This position requires someone who has
excellent research, writing, and communication skills, is
self-motivated, reliable, organised, thorough and
timely.
Responsibilities
Assisting the director and
supporting the advocacy team with its research needs
Assisting with the production of advocacy materials and
literature
Coordinating the production of a wide range of
communications
Providing support for events and exhibitions
as required
Assist with the collation of information for
promotional literature
Writing promotional material for
IWI
Updating and maintaining the team's documentation and
databases
Prepares mailers and brochures by formatting
content and graphics
Assist with the writing of press
releases
Qualifications
Bachelor’s
Degree and/or 4+ years research experience
Excellent
communication skills and attention to detail
Leadership
skills and ability to work cross functionally
Ability to
work in a fast-paced environment and under tight deadlines
Law and advocacy experience a plus
Knowledge of nonprofits or
social movements

Time Commitment: The minimum commitment is an average of 10 hours per week including a weekly one on one meeting with supervisor.
