Full Job Description

The Service & Team: Augmentative and Alternative (AAC) Team. The AAC Team is a small team of 3 people (1 advisor, 2 technical officers) which works throughout the county with children and young people who use powered devices to communicate. We work in schools and settings with a wide range of professionals. We are involved in the assessment process as well as supporting long term effective use of powered devices.

The Role:  The Technical Officer provides bespoke training, works with individual users and oversees the maintenance and programming of the devices. 

This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.      

This position will be subject to a enhanced criminal record disclosure check. 

What you’ll need to succeed:

You will be a confident user of IT and enjoy sharing your knowledge with other people with the ability to adapt quickly to use new and developing technologies effectively. You will have some experience of working with children and young people who have special educational needs and/or disabilities. You will enjoy working as part of a team, have good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise your own workload.
