Arborist (Grounds person/ second climber)

Scale 5: Starting Salary £31,716, rising in increments to £33,204 plus very generous standby allowance and out of hour’s emergency call out payments.

1 x Permanent contract

About the Team:

This is an exciting opportunity to join Lambeth’s Tree Services team, offering a wide range of tree management services in house and to private clients locally and further afield. Post holders will be part of a forward thinking and dynamic team including climbers, ground staff, tree officers and the wider Lambeth Landscapes operation. You can expect excellent training opportunities and career development within Lambeth Council.

About the Role:

The successful candidates will be required to carry out a range of duties including grounding, tree surgery and second climber and other specified tree management duties.

You will be required to carry out physically demanding, heavy manual work, sometimes in challenging terrain and you should have a willingness to work outside in all weathers. Contracted working hours are 35 per week Monday to Friday, and candidates must also be available to participate in the out-of-hours emergency call-out rota.

As well as good rates of pay, generous annual leave entitlement, a final salary pension scheme, successful applicants will be provided with full PPE and kit.

You will have experience and knowledge appropriate to the position, including:

Relevant NPTC/CS certificates or equivalent:

  • CS30 Maintain and Operate the Chainsaw
  • CS31 Felling of Small Trees
  • CS38 Climb Trees and Perform Aerial Rescue
  • CS39 Use of the Chainsaw from a Rope and Harness
  • Lantra Brushwood Chipper NPTC A06
  • The operation and maintenance of all types of tree work equipment, including chainsaws and chippers and
  • a full UK driving licence.
