Job Description
Virginia State University is a four-year, public comprehensive 1890 Land Grant institution and HBCU (Historically Black College/University) committed to the preparation of a diverse population and dedicated to using a holistic approach to academic excellence, and student success and engagement. VSU offers programs from the undergraduate to doctorate levels including majors in its Colleges of Engineering and Technology; Agriculture; Business; Education; Humanities and Social Sciences; and Natural and Health Sciences. Situated in Chesterfield County at Ettrick, VSU is accessible via Interstate Highways 95 and 85, which meet in Petersburg. The University is only two and a half hours away from Washington, D.C. to the north and the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area to the southwest. VSU’s Multipurpose Center was a COVID -19 Community Vaccination Center serving thousands daily, consistent with its values of serving communities. It is a founding member of Virginia’s Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing ( CCAM ) and the Commonwealth Center for Advanced Logistics Systems ( CCALS ). Duties and Responsibilities: Teaching and supporting the development of Information Logistics Technology Program courses, as well as interfacing with mechanical and Electrical Engineering programs. Topics include Facility Planning, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Safety, Risk Analysis, Quality Engineering, Data Analytics, Human Factors and Ergonomics, Automation, Manufacturing Materials and Processes, Micro System Principles, Design Thinking, Bio-Mechanics and Internet of Things ( IOT ), Human Factors, Ergonomics, Work Measurement. Developing support for the Information Logistics Technology Program from local industry and professional groups will be expected. Responsibilities also include developing laboratories, course curriculum, recruiting and advising students; serving on departmental, school and college committees, supervise senior design projects, contribute to continuous improvement activities of programs in the department, participate in research/scholarly activity as appropriate to the program and the department, participate in student recruitment, advising and retention activities, teaching both lower and upper division undergraduate courses in Information Logistics Technology program and other duties as assigned by the department chairperson. Candidates need to have a commitment to baccalaureate education along with a demonstrated ability to pursue scholarly activities. Candidates are expected to conduct related research and develop proposals.

Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a closely related field. Evidence of recent, relevant sponsored research and prior industry, teaching or research experience at the college/university level is highly desirable. Potential for research and publication are necessary for tenure-track appointment. Successful candidate will demonstrate a willingness to support ABET and SACS accreditation process and must be willing to work with persons from culturally diverse backgrounds. Excellent oral and written communications skills in English are required. Candidates are expected to conduct related to conduct related research and develop proposals for funding agencies.
