ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER  

Here at Puttshack we are recruiting an Assistant General Manager for our venue in Lakeside!

The Role: 

The Assistant General Manager works with the GeneralManager sharing the responsibility for the day to day running of the business.The AGM deputizes in the absence of the GM and will be a key liaison betweenthe restaurant, kitchen, guest, and associates and ‘head office’.

Itis the ultimate goal of all associates to deliver excellent guest service andso the AGM’s greatest responsibility is to make sure that every single guesthas a pleasurable experience.  To achievethis, you will need to support the GM in leading and inspiring the team in allareas of the operation.

Working Hours:  45

Reports to:  General Manager

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience as an Assistant General Manager in high volume F&B.

  • Responsible forassisting the GM in ensuring that everything necessary for the smooth runningof the operation is carefully planned and execute.
  • Accountable forsales, profit, staffing and stock control targets as set by the GM
  • Promote safeoperational standards for both Guest and Associate safety.
  • Ensure that brand and operating standards are met.
  • Monitor guest survey feedback and help team adjustas needed to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Works to create a can-do team culture in the hostand throughout the operation. 


Key Responsibilities:

BUSINESS

Forecasting and controls – assistthe GM with planning ahead in order to maximize financial opportunities;anticipate the business in order to ensure costs reflect business levels

P&L – achieve and maximizesales and profit targets as set by the GM; assist the GM with monitoringexpenditure and follow proper procedure with exceptional expenditure

Financial administration – assistthe GM with maintaining cash control and complete timely and accurate bankingreconciliation; investigate discrepancies; monitor and report on comps andvoids; provide accurate data between venue and outsourced accounts

Stock – ensure that stockcontrol and budgets are adhered to; ensure correct purchasing procedures arefollowed; undertake monthly stock takes as directed by the GM; assist the GM toensure the consistent quality, rotation and levels of stock

Premises – assist the GM inensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of the venue  

Health and Safety – assistthe GM in establishing, maintaining and monitoring the highest standards ofhygiene and H&S in accordance with all statutory, legal and company requirements. 

Equipment – assist the GM asrequired with overseeing the maintenance of equipment; report any issue in atimely manner; follow-up diligently, particularly with technology and any issuewhich might impact on health and safety obligations

PEOPLE

Administration – take responsibility foradministration following established procedures, including schedules,organisation, deployment, managing holidays

Motivation – assist the GM in leadingthe team; inspire and motivate them to realise their maximum potential andensure everyone is fully committed to the growth and profitability of thebusiness

Recruitment – follow establishedprocedures; ensure all staff are legally entitled to work in the UK, inductionis completed and documented

Training and Development – assistthe GM in the appraisal of associates; create plans to address any performanceissues; identify development opportunities

Welfare and Discipline

Uniform, grooming and conduct –maintain the highest standards of presentation, dress and behaviour and ensurethat this is maintained by all team members  

Guest relations – buildand maintain excellent relations; meet and greet; maintain guest loyalty 

Service – ensure that theprovision of service and guest care are of the highest standard; consistentlyact as a role model in the delivery of the highest standards of service 

Feedback – assist the GM in dealingwith written complaints promptly and inform Head Office; together with the GMpropose any necessary solutions to issues raised; complete nightly report withaccurate information

Briefings – assist the GM withappropriate briefings to enable managers and associates to fulfil guests’arrangements.  

In addition tothe above duties, you will carry out such other duties as the Companyreasonably directs from time to time.
