The opportunity

Project: Mace is seeking to appoint an experienced assistant project manager to join the rapidly expanding Defence Sustainability team delivering for Defence Support (DefSp) as their Sustainable Support Strategy Development Partner (SSSDP).

Your responsibilities will include:

• Working within a Defence consultancy team and alongside SMEs from across Mace to help enable the best possible outcomes for DefSp. 

• Helping to Project Manage teams of SMEs who may be unfamiliar with working in Defence through sustainability projects to support DefSp. T

• Delivering on time and identifying quality standards. 

• Report writing for a Defence audience.

• Engaging with Climate Change and Sustainability stakeholders across all of Defence’s Front-Line Commands and Enabling Organisations. 

• Using your personal skills, emotional intelligence and network to generate and win new business opportunities. 

• Working with bid teams to write technical solutions to meet client requirements. 

About you

You must be able and willing to undergo security clearance processes, if you do not already hold a valid UK government clearance. You have knowledge of UK Defence, how it is structured and governed; and how key decisions are taken. You have knowledge of the Climate Change and Sustainability strategies released by UK Defence in the last 3 years and have an understanding of how climate change and sustainability issues are affecting the Defence sector and the options for responding. Proven track-record successfully delivering in a team environment, including the ability to structure complex projects, understand the strategic context review detailed analysis, and support the development of non-Defence specialist colleagues. Excellent communication including presentation skills and report writing to a JSP101 Defence Writing standard.
