Associate Director / Director Medical Excellence – ACE Region

Reporting to the Head of Kite Medical Affairs Operations for the ACE region, the Associate Director / Director of Kite Medical Excellence for the ACE region will be responsible for advancing the development of medical capabilities in the region, by continuously assessing and enhancing internal capabilities to address internal and external changes in partnership with Global Medical Leadership (MALT), Global Medical Excellence and Operations, Regional Medical Leads, Clinical Research, Business Conduct, Medical Governance and Commercial Leadership to deliver on our ambition in Medical Excellence. In addition, a key aspect of this role is to ensure continuous engagement and alignment with the Gilead Medical Affairs excellence team in ACE, pro-actively engaging to ensure a one team approach in medical excellence.

T his individual will ensure the successful implementation of key initiatives and provide strategic, technical and operational support to identify needs and incorporate innovation, address gaps against industry benchmarks, and reduce strategic, operational and compliance risk across ACE field teams. 

This position will be based at our offices in Stockley Park, Uxbridge and offers the opportunity for hybrid working.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the regional strategy for Kite ACE Medical Excellence
  • Implement Medical analytics (e.g. outcomes analytics), processes, technology and tools that demonstrate the value of medical affairs.
  • Responsible for Kite ACE M edical Excellence initiatives: MS Excellence, MM Excellence
  • Operationally support the Kite ACE Insights Process
  • Support of Kite Medical Affairs business tools and technology at regional level (e.g., CRM, insights tools, STRIVE)
  • Operational responsibility for Kite Medical Affairs field dashboards (ACE)
  • Support Kite Omnichannel strategy
  • Provide operational support to project Foresight initiatives
  • Meet budget and resource targets for the department
  • Function as a strategic thought partner internally as well as externally on matters of critical importance for Medical Excellence
  • Develop creative and effective solutions to inter- and intra-project priority conflicts, resource constraints and other problems, which may impact project or group goals and deliverables across multiple programs.
  • Collaborate with relevant departments within Medical Affairs, across Development and Commercial as well as IT entities to establish and maintain communication channels, work practices, and processes
  • Implement real-time monitoring and analysis of KPIs, developing standard reporting models to aid decision making and overall strategy
  • Direct and lead continuous improvement of processes and supporting tools to determine best practices and appropriate resource needs, including budget, tools, and personnel
  • Monitor industry Medical Affairs best practices and provide recommendations for process improvement, engagement innovation, training delivery and technology needs

Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

  • Advanced scientific degree with significant business experience and/or business degree with significant scientific experience
  • Extensive global/in-market Pharma/Biopharma Medical Affairs
  • Oncology and/or Virology experience preferable
  • Experience shaping, developing and successfully implementing regional and/or in-market plans for medical engagement
  • In-depth understanding of industry regulations and requirements relevant for all aspects of Medical Affairs responsibilities
  • Well-developed aptitude for digital technology with broad knowledge of IT and infrastructure
  • Experience with strategic planning processes and tools
  • Experience interpreting forecasts, budgets, financial processes and tools
  • Experience in an alliance or strategic partnership
  • Experience in translating business needs into a coordinated plan
  • Results-orientation with ability to develop creative and simple solutions to complex problems
  • Strong ability to collaborate across multiple internal and external partners
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail, clarity, accuracy and conciseness
