Automation Engineer

Full Job Description

Our client who designs and manufactures production line equipment are keen to recruit an Automation Engineer to design and programme PLC's, touchscreens and controls.

The role involves working with the electricians and panel builders to design and build the control system , program and commission the machines in house at the purpose built factory in the Basildon area and at customers site so some worldwide travel is required on occasion.

Duties:

• Designing PLC based electrical control systems from design specifications.
• Programming PLC, Touchscreen and Safety Configurable relay systems.
• Configuring Remote I/O, servo motor and inverter drives
• Integrating ancillary equipment into the production lines such as vision systems etc.
• Fault finding on electrical control systems, PLC's, and hardwired systems
• Commissioning, support, and service work at customers' sites

Requirements:

• Must have previous experience of PLC programming , touchscreens and controls
• Must have a good understanding of electrical drawings, control panel specifications and design
• A good understanding of Vision and SCADA systems is also required
• Experience working as an Automation Engineer within the pharmaceutical industry would be advantageous
• Experience of explosive atmosphere regulations is desirable
• Product training will be given on specialist machinery and equipment
• Must be willing to undertake overseas travel on occasion
