We want to provide support based on the principles of choice, dignity and respect. This resonates in our vision of ‘Your Life, Your Choice’ and our strategy ‘Best Lives Possible’.

We have strong values and we’re proud to pioneer new ways of delivering social care to stand out in our sector. In the past two years, we have won or made the shortlist for over 100 national and regional awards!

We are also focused on our people. Our Support Workers are dedicated and passionate about going ‘the extra mile’ for the people we support and in return, we go the extra mile for them by investing in pay, recognition, wellbeing and continued professional and personal development. We will provide you with all the training, support and personal protective equipment you need in your role and will help you develop, should you decide you want to develop your career with us.

Who you’ll be supporting & more about the role:
Are you a fun and honest individual who loves going the extra mile to improve the lives of others?

Is it important for you to have a satisfying job where you feel supported?

If this sounds like you, maybe a Support Worker role with an award-winning charity is the change you’ve been looking for!

We are recruiting for Bank Support Workers in our short breaks services in Wakefield.  In these services, we support a wide range of individuals for short periods of respite care, from 1 night to several weeks at a time.  We have two accessible bungalows designed to support the needs of these individuals, where they can relax and enjoy some personal time.

We support adults from age 18 upwards who have faced challenges in the past because of their learning disabilities, Autism and mobility issues.  Some of the individuals we support require wheelchairs to help live their daily lives.

The individuals we support live very active lives and enjoy spending time in our gardens, going out for the day, baking, arts and crafts, football, seasonal celebrations and plane spotting at the airport, but also love trying new things.

Our staff team are very supportive and knowledgeable and enjoying supporting others to live their lives to the fullest.  As well as activities, our team also supports people with:

• Medication
• Cooking
• Assisting with personal care
• Maintaining homes and managing finances

Our staff provide support from 7am – 2pm, 2pm – 10pm, 7am – 10.30am and 3pm – 10pm.  They provide sleepover support from 10pm – 7am and waking nights from 10pm – 8am, which helps the people we support to feel safe and relaxed during their stay.

Your values:
The people we support like to be supported by people who respect them and their space, but who also like to have fun!

They like people who are reliable and honest, so they can build trust and know that their staff team have their best interests at heart.

It’s important that staff are calm and able to communicate well and should be willing to learn new skills as the needs of the people we support change.

Naturally it is important too that you share our company values - We Include; We Deliver; We Aspire; We Respect; We Enable, which are at the heart of everything we do and ensure that we deliver high quality, consistent care and support. People's values are important to use, so we look for people with:

- Patience
- Empathy, compassion and sensitivity to others
- A strong work ethic
- Reliability
- Honesty
- Determination
- A problem solver
- Resilience
