Full Job Description

anzuk education is currently looking for a behaviour teaching assistant to work on a full time  long term basis in a primary school based in Newport . This role is starting as soon as possible.

Position Overview:
As a teaching assistant you will play a crucial role in providing tailored support to help the student overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. You will be working in the Learning Resource Base (LRB) supporting a child on a 1:1 basis.

The child is currently undergoing an ASD diagnosis so is needing support with engagement  and behaviour management.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a student with behavioural needs, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Implement strategies and interventions outlined in the student's individual behaviour plan (IBP) to promote positive behaviour and social skills development.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment where the student feels valued, respected, and motivated to engage in learning activities.
  • Collaborate closely with the class teacher and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to create and implement personalized learning plans.
  • Assist with the de-escalation of challenging behaviours and implement appropriate behaviour management techniques in line with school policies and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working as a teaching assistant or support worker, ideally in a primary school setting.
  • Experience supporting students with behavioural needs, including knowledge of behaviour management strategies and interventions.
  • A compassionate and patient approach, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and adapt support according to individual needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
Working Hours:
  • Full-time position, Monday to Friday.
  • 8:30am - 3:30pm
