Full Job Description

Permanent 

Full time (37 hours per week) 

We are currently looking for a Building Surveyor to join our team and be responsible for a full range of technical surveying duties, specifying and managing required repair works to our customers' homes.  You will be responsible for the work that you and your team complete bpha properties free from Hazards (HHSRS) and Disrepair.  

You will ensure that bpha properties meet the standards expected through the various legislations in place and be accountable for completing technically accurate surveys which use building pathology to develop solutions for a range of building defects.  

What you will be doing: 

  • Taking responsibility for ensuring that you follow all bpha requirements in terms of health, safety, and the environment. 

  • Assisting the IHMS / Property Services management team in ensuring that policies and procedures governing this area of work are suitable 

  • Carrying out various surveys and inspections across our stock, ensuring that bpha meets its legislative duties, delivers a good customer experience and that the repairs service delivered achieves value for money 

  • Engaging with and supervising external contractors work on site as necessary and report concerns regarding performance and conduct to the management team 

  • Offering support advice and guidance to other members of property services, other business units and contractors on technical issues. 

We are looking for someone with:

  • A degree in Building Surveying 

  • Working towards or prepared to undertake an MRICS accreditation for personal development 

  • Certified HHSRS Practitioner 

  • Experienced construction professional with sound knowledge of maintenance and repair works 

  • Good knowledge & experience of landlord responsibilities, construction & housing health and safety 

  • Knowledge and understanding of health and safety issues affecting construction and associated works 

  • Experience working in the social housing maintenance sector, either client or contractor side 

  • Experienced in managing Housing Condition Claims (Disrepair) 

Please note the successful candidate will need to complete a basic DBS application.    

Please note a full driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential for this role.
