Together we are Trusted to Serve Scotland.

Business Administration Modern Apprenticeship (Service Review Team)

Starting salary – £19,587

Location - Edinburgh

Join the Scottish Water family and flourish

Most people don’t think too much about how clean water reaches their taps. Or what happens to their wastewater.

But Scottish Water does. In fact, it’s all we think about.

That, and hiring our next modern apprentice superstar.

A real alternative to university

Work-based learning means hands-on experience, tailored to suit you. On our Business Administration programme you’ll learn skills you can only get on the job. And most importantly, you’ll be working towards a Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ).

You may even want to stay on and pursue a career with us. (That, by the way, is a very real option.)

What will you be doing?

You will receive support and development to work towards and complete a Business Administration Modern Apprenticeship.

You will join the service review team (SRT) which is part of Customer Experience is responsible for all formal complaints/claims that come into Scottish Water.  Within the team we are also responsible for managing payments to customers set out in our code of practice

What’s in it for you?

Opportunity

We want you to challenge and stretch yourself – and we’re here to help you make the most of your skills and abilities with first-class training, support, and a huge investment in your development.

Teamwork

The best bit? You’ll be working as part of a team championing your success. They’re here to help develop your skills, all the way to a nationally recognised qualification.

Confidence

We want you to feel confident and to share your ideas, because they help us work better. We respect and value peoples’ differences. It’s why people love working here.

What you’ll bring

We’re keen to meet applicants from all backgrounds with five National 4 or 5 Qualifications (English, Maths and Science are good, but not a dealbreaker) It would also be great if you have a good understanding of Microsoft office (Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and bring a commitment to learning and developing new skills. A full UK driving licence (or learning, fast!) is preferable.

Looking out for you

While the work we do is important, we know it’s not the only thing that matters. That’s why we make sure you have everything you need to find a good work-life balance.

You’ll get plenty of time to recharge with 38 days of holiday every year (including public holidays). And you can even buy five more if you need a little extra time. You can also take paid time off to volunteer in your community.

When it comes to major life events we have family-friendly policies around adoption, maternity, and parental leave. And for the everyday? We embrace flexible working.

For your future, there’s our pension (the ‘know-what-you’ll-get-when-you-retire’ kind), as well as life assurance.

As for some nice extras? You can expect an annual company bonus. Not to mention access to SW Splash – handy rewards that can save you money on holidays, bills, and shopping.

The not-so-small print

You’ll be offered a fixed term contract (18 months) for the length of your programme. After successful completion of the programme, you may be offered a permanent role within one of our teams.

We will be accepting applications until midnight on the 29th of November

A few final things worth knowing…

Let us know if there are any changes we can make to our recruitment process to help you perform at your best. Lots of our people have disabilities or neurodiverse conditions (including some of our recruiters!). We're also aware that some people might be experiencing temporary challenges because of life events, like menopause. We’re very used to making adjustments, so please don’t be afraid to ask.

As part of our commitment to developing a flourishing Scotland, it’s important that all our employees are Scottish taxpayers. If you join us, your home address will need to be in Scotland. If you don’t already live here, you'll need to commit to moving here within your first three months.

Finally (finally!), candidates who haven’t submitted an application in the last 12 months will have their records removed from our recruitment database. You won’t need to do anything. Your data will be automatically deleted.
