J OB T ITLE :    Business Development Manager (Traded)

R EPORTS TO :               Trading Manager

Location:                    Leek, Staffordshire -  Dynamic Working policy in place which facilitates flexible hours and hybrid working.

Hours:                        Monday to Friday 36.25 hours per week

Salary:      Generous saalary on offer plus bonus + great benefits

K EY A REAS OF R ESPONSIBILITY:

 

  • Identifying and developing new business in line with the company’s strategic objectives
  • Building strong commercial relationships with potential and existing customers
  • To develop an excellent understanding of the company’s capability and capacity and give due consideration to this when selling
  • To achieve the agreed volume and margin plan on both traded dairy powders and powder blends as defined in the accounts plan
  • To map all relevant trading/blending opportunities detailing customer, product, volumes, periods & incumbent suppliers
  • To maintain regular contact, with the appropriate personnel within your nominated development accounts in their buying, marketing, sales, finance, NPD technical and supply chain functions in order to develop relationships and improve trading performance.
  • To maintain awareness of customer policy, strategy, personnel and operational changes and communicate accordingly to appropriate ONI / Ornua management and staff.
  • To know, understand and communicate each account trading strategy, current activities/developments and impact opportunity for dairy trading.
  • To manage effective coordination between ONI’s, procurement, NPD, planning, logistics, customer services, finance, purchasing and the customers respective departments for opportunities more suited to blended powders / non Irish trading.
  • To manage expenditure on business development, new product origination and personal expenses to agreed budgets and policies.
  • To manage price files and credit limits for all customers to agreed accuracy/levels.  Ensure customer invoice queries to be resolved within 28 days of receipt.
  • To ensure all activities meet with organisational requirements for quality management, health and safety, people management, legal stipulations, environmental policies and general duty of care
  • To uphold and promote the organisation’s values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, integrity and corporate social responsibility.

 

K EY R EQUIREMENTS :

Essential

  • Minimum of 2 years in a commercial sales role.
  • Account experience of managing products (ingredient, retail, traded), both launching and developments.
  • FMCG/Blue chip background.
  • Financial and forecasting numeracy.
  • Key customer/market knowledge for appropriate accounts.
  • Technical knowledge of diary product range benefit.
  • Driving license
  • IT skills

Desirable

  • Degree (commercial/nutrition/science).
  • Internationally traded dairy commodities/UK dairy market.
  • FMCG dairy
  • Functional dairy ingredients
