Overview

Introduction:

 

Spicerhaart, the largest independent estate agency in the UK, is seeking to recruit a Business Executive to the Group Chairman.  The Spicerhaart Group was founded over 20 years ago by father and son Alick and Paul Smith with three branches of Spicer McColl in East Anglia. Today, Spicerhaart trades from over 175 locations and is one of the UK’s most innovative estate agency groups, combining the largest independent residential sales and lettings network with one of the biggest integrated financial services businesses in the country.

 

The Spicerhaart Group operates a number of prominent, Regional Estate Agency brands including Butters John Bee, Darlows, Felicity J Lord, haart, Haybrook, Howards and our premium home brand Chewton Rose.  Providing a breadth of services to thousands of customers every year, the Group uses award winning marketing and leading edge technology to help sellers achieve the best possible price for their property.

 

As an early pioneer of the one-stop shop, the Group has developed services encompassing mortgages and insurances offered through its Just Mortgages brand, conveyancing and surveying, via the 4th largest Chartered Surveyors in the UK; Valunation, as well as property management and land and new homes’ sales.

 

In the B2B market Spicerhaart offers asset management, mortgage valuation and LPA receivership services, primarily to corporate lenders, through its Spicerhaart Corporate Sales, Valunation and Residential Investment Management brands.  

 

 

The Role:

 

Reporting to the Chairman, you will play an integral role within the Company and its growth. You will work closely with the Chairman providing professional and comprehensive support that ensures the accomplishment of their daily activities and delivery of the Companies five year plan.

 

You will need to be highly motivated, resourceful, and forward thinking with strong organisational and communication skills. Your self-motivation will enable you to get the job done, overcoming any obstacles and or time restraints that will present themselves on a day to day basis. 

 

 

Initially the role will be based in the Group’s head office in Colchester where the Chairman is based. Over time it is likely that there will be the opportunity to offer a level of flexible working however a weekly presence within head office will always be a requirement.

 

Key Areas of Responsibility:

 

Calendar Management; prioritise enquiries and requests whilst resolving conflicts, uses initiative, tact and makes judgements and recommendations to ensure smooth day to day schedules.

 

Work closely with the Chairman at all times keeping them well informed of upcoming commitments and responsibilities following up where appropriate; acts as a sense check for the Chairman, have a sense of what is going on and any issues taking place within the Company and keeping the Chairman updated. Anticipates the Chairman’s needs in advance.

 

Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external matters relevant to the Chairman; including those of a highly confidential nature and or critical. Prioritising and determining appropriate course of action, referral, or response, exercising judgement to reflect the CEhairman's style.

 

Complete a varied range of tasks that facilitate the Chairman’s ability to effectively lead the Company; whilst not exhaustive; designing and producing complex documents, reports, presentations, collecting and preparing information for meetings, assisting with projects, drafting and preparing correspondence.

 

Acts as an ambassador for communication; interacts with all levels within the organisation. Interpreting and adapting information and communication style accordingly

 

The Candidate:

 

You will be confident in your ability to work alongside a Chairman acting as a collaborative partner. You will have the ability to anticipate the needs and the preferences of the Chairman and plan accordingly. You will quickly learn how to think like the Chairman and therefore understand how information is processed.

 

You will have excellent organisational skills that will enable you to strategically organise meetings, events and tasks to maximise the Chairman's time.

 

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across the Group are of critical importance.  It is also essential that you are able to work to deadlines and adapt to changing conditions, generating pragmatic solutions to new situations and problems as they are presented.
