As a Business Manager – Data Science and Modelling, in the business of materials science your role will lead on driving profitable growth. This is an exciting time for us as we look to grow our commercial offering within data science and computational modelling. You will work in collaboration with colleagues across our business areas to deliver on projects, scope new projects along with networking strategically within the industry whilst maintaining Client relationships.

Your Role in Action:

  • Design and execute commercial vision, driven by data for our Computational Modelling and Data Science Team.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and within the marketplace to identify trends, competitive landscapes and growth opportunities.
  • Lead on projects that involve computational modelling and data analytics with a focus on materials science.
  • Deliver with quality our projects for our Client’s satisfaction.
  • Be a networker in our industry building and maintaining strong relationships with customers and collaborators.
  • Collaborate with other technical teams to translate scientific insights into actionable recommendations for customers.
  • Understand the unique needs of different customers and tailor data science and computational modelling solutions accordingly.

Essentials:

  • Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Data Science, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Experience in data science and materials science is mandatory.
  • Proven track record in computational modelling & or statistical analysis, and machine learning.

Experience:

  • Familiarity with materials manufacturing processes and characterisation techniques
  • Excellent communication, team-building, and decision-making abilities.
  • Demonstratable ability to inspire, motivate and work within cross-functional teams

Experience in strategic thinking, business development, and client relationship management

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to create compelling data-driven stories that resonate with clients and stakeholders.
  • Highly numerate, with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills which have been applied in a business context.
  • Proven track record of working on initiative, with the ability to introduce fresh thinking and innovation to the role and the wider team.
  • Able to work with multiple technologies and multiple partners at the same time.
  • Proven ability to build, sustain and develop strong client relationships.
  • Excellent influencing skills, both internally and externally, combined with a willingness to challenge existing ideas.
  • Ability to structure the approach to the role, including key task prioritisation and maintaining a focus on the strategic aims of the business.
  • Ability to work in a “one team” manner to resolve any challenges that arise internally or externally.
  • The role will be based at Stone (UK) but will involve travel to clients locations.
