Full Job Description

  • Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils, Ipswich, Suffolk, IP1 2BX
  • £25,545 - £28,770 per annum (pro rata for part time)
  • Full Time, 37 hours per week
  • Fixed Term Contract or Secondment opportunity for 12 months

Full time, part time and job share opportunities will be considered.

What we are looking for

We are looking for a Business Support Officer to join our Communities Team . You will share our values , commitment, and motivation to make a difference for our residents, clients, and communities. 

About the role

Reporting to the Community Grants and Development Manager you will deliver a highly effective, customer-centric, and innovative business support function. You will support the Communities service to deliver a planned work programme within resource, budget, and time constraints.

You will support the activities, resources, information and equipment required for Communities based and other council projects.

The role includes a multitude of duties that range from:

  • supporting budget managers in the monitoring and administration of the corporate finance systems
  • assisting in maintaining the directorate communities’ information management systems to enable intelligence led approach to business planning
  • organising and managing the support for projects and events including meeting face to face with external partners including VCFSE organisations, the development of timelines, milestones resource allocation and budgets, taking minutes and providing technical and administrative support to Managers and lead project officers.

About you

You will need to:

  • possess an NVQ Level 3 in administration and/or gained an equivalent level of knowledge through experience
  • demonstrate excellent verbal communication skills for customer interaction as well as written communication skills
  • have strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently as well as multi-task.
