We are delighted to present an exciting opportunity  to join our client, a frontrunner in the Food Manufacturing industry based in Brackley who are looking for a Buyer to join their business.
Job Title:             Buyer
Location:            Brackley
Salary:  £32,000 - £38,000 DOE
Hours:                 Mon-Fri  8 00am to 4 00pm
Key Responsibilities:
As a Buyer, you will report into the Procurement Manager and will be responsible for identifying and procuring ingredients (such as marinades, glazes, vegetables etc) for retail and food service chicken products. You will focus on category optimisation, process improvement and delivering against individual and departmental goals.

  • Establish and maintain ongoing relationships with preferred suppliers.
  • Negotiating prices, agree terms and conditions and where required set up contracts and supply agreements.
  • Perform spend, contract and market analysis for ingredient category for communication to the wider business.
  • Work closely with all sites with management of lead times, minimum order quantities and shelf life to ensure continuity of supply to site at minimal wastage.
  • Source new ingredients and suppliers where required ensuring compliance with legislation and standards, including but not limited to Retailer, ethical and environmental.
  • Work closely with NPD and technical to ensure supplier approval and product integrity.
  • Must have a good understanding of raw material markets through the supply chain of the ingredients procured and how they will impact the business.
  • Work closely with key suppliers and be able to identify risks timely to ensure continuity of supply.
  • Results orientated with the ability to plan and deliver against targets and project deadlines.

Skills:-

  • Previous experience in a similar category.
  • Good analytical and reporting skills with ability to recognise future and market trends.
  • Knowledge of ingredient raw materials and commodity markets (although not essential)
  • Contract management and SRM experience.
  • Good commercial awareness and ability to interface with cross functional team and levels in the business.
  • Ability to make decisions under pressure and strict deadlines.
  • Negotiation and tendering skills
  • Risk management experience desired.
