Full Job Description

CAD/CAM Estimator at Yorkshire Profiles Job description
Main purpose of job:
  • Reporting to the Directors, as a CAD Estimator you are expected to handle customer enquiries
  • Make sure quotes and orders are moved forward as quickly and accurately as possible using:
    • Company intranet,
    • AutoDesk programmes (AutoCAD 2D and Fusion 360)
    • Laser Programming Software (training provided).


Main tasks of job include:

  1. Expedite
    1. customer enquiries
    2. orders
  2. Reliably calculate order prices using Company systems.
  3. Make sure all appropriate information is entered into the Company production system precisely
  4. Quickly and accurately complete computer aided design tasks such as
    1. drawing,
    2. modifying and
    3. nesting
  5. Treat with respect and politeness all our
    1. customers,
    2. suppliers and
    3. delivery drivers as required
  1. Establish an outstanding level of customer service.
  2. Behave in a manner which meets
    1. the Company’s policies and
    2. guidelines for health and safety requirements as set out in
      1. your Employment Contract and
      2. Health and Safety Handbook.
  3. You should cooperate on work-projects with the office and workshop teams
  4. Invite feedback from clients about their experience working with Yorkshire Profiles
  5. Maintain a clean and organised working area.
  6. Undertake training as required

This list is not exhaustive and you may be expected to perform other tasks during peak times.

Further Details:


  • As the ideal candidate, you will be experienced in using 2D CAD software
  • You should be able to convert paper sketches into accurate CAD drawings.
  • You will have good written skills to allow you to communicate with customers by email.
  • You will move towards using 3D CAD and bend software as you become more experienced in the job

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

You will be monitored on the following KPIs:


  1. Ratio of success to failure in processing enquiries accurately.
  2. Ratio of success to failure in processing orders accurately.
  3. Customer feedback about customer service performance.
  4. Speed and ability of processing orders with few mistakes and delays.
  5. Management feedback on using your initiative
  6. Completion of relevant documentation (such as quality checks)


Working hours:

  • 40 hours per week, paid monthly.
  • 224 hours holiday per year (hourly holidays to maximise flexible working).
  • Office hours are
    • 8.00 til 17.00 Monday to Thursday
    • 8.00 til 14.30 Friday.

    1. carry out all specified quality checks, making sure work is done to the required Company standards
    2. complete relevant records (electronic and paper)
  5. You must identify any purchase requirements and communicate these to the Purchasing and Logistics Manager.
  6. Competent and reasonable communication with
    1. customers,
    2. suppliers and
    3. delivery drivers as required

  2. You should report problems to managers such as those related to
    1. products and services,
    2. supplier problems,
    3. infrastructure problems,
    4. customer dissatisfaction
