Wiltshire College & University Centre have an exciting opportunity for a Campus Security Guard to join their team.

Location: Salisbury, Wiltshire

Salary: £24,755 per annum (Professional Services Grade 5)

Job Type: Full – Time, Permanent  (37 Hours PW, 52 weeks PY)

The working hours are 8:30 – 17: 00 Monday to Thursday and Friday 8:30 – 16:30 with a 1-hour lunch break.

Campus Security Guard – Key Responsibilities:

Regular tours of campus inside and out including car parks and social spaces -this to monitor and encourage students, staff, and visitors in wearing lanyards and behaving respectfully to each other and college facilities. You will also be responsible for (but not limited to):

- Assist with supervising student behaviour in all areas of the college

- To monitor the use of the student common rooms with emphasis on this during morning and afternoon break times and lunch times

- To respond to calls for back up in dealing with unscheduled or difficult people who arrive on site

- To build rapport with students and note and report those that are vulnerable or at risk to the safeguarding and tutorial team

- Regular liaison and communication with the Safeguarding and Tutorial Team

- Respond to any incidents that may occur on campus and support staff with de-escalation

- Support of cross college and estates and facilities outside of term time and some evening and weekend working to support college events

- Searching bags with a college member of staff present if illegal substances or knives/weapons are suspected to be on campus

- Give assistance at fire drill. emergency evacuation and terror incidents

Campus Security Guard – You:

- Hold a SIA Licence

- To hold a Literacy and Numeracy qualification at Level 2 (GCSE A-C)

- Experience of security work

- Experience of working with young people and vulnerable adults

- Experience of record keeping, data inputting and providing timely reports

- Anticipate changes to service required to constantly improve the student experience

- High personal integrity and motivation

- Understanding and ability to work as a flexible team member, contributing to

the delivery of business objectives

- A good understanding and knowledge of safeguarding, equality and diversity

- Confident, approachable and friendly disposition with strong communication

and interpersonal skills

- Creates a positive image of the college through the delivery of a high-quality customer focussed service

- Willingness to undertake First Aid Training if required

- An understanding of and commitment to Equality and Diversity as it applies to a supportive service in the workplace

- Knowledge of safeguarding to create a safe and respectful learning environment
