Full Job Description

We are currently seeking an interim Chemical Specifications Coordinator, to work with our global FMCG client, renowned for brands such as Dove, Sure, Persil, and Simple, and become an integral part of their fast-paced FMCG environment.

The position is based at our client's scientific Research & Development facility in Port Sunlight Village, Wirral easily accessible by train and car. This is a full-time temporary role to run until end December 2024, requiring 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Compensation for this role is competitive, paying between 25,550 - 28,304 per annum, pro rata, depending upon experience.

About the role:

We are looking for a Chemical Specifications Coordinator to work with our Global FMCG client. The successful candidate should have a degree in Chemistry. They will require a good chemical knowledge with an appreciation of the importance of material specifications, certificate of analysis and safety data sheets. The candidate will need to be well-organised, require good attention to detail and have an appreciation of the importance of data integrity. An appreciation of chemical hazards and GHS labelling is essential.

The successful candidate will require an excellent understanding of chemical naming nomenclature and the ability to use online data sources to verify information and should have experience in LIMS/chemical inventory systems and possess excellent IT skills. Whilst not essential some knowledge of PowerBI Apps would be useful.

The role will include registration of new materials within our chemical inventory system, checking chemical inventory data and making corrections where necessary. It will include ensuring associated safety datasheets and certificate of analysis are correctly assigned. It may involve contacting suppliers for information and ensuring details are correct at material batch levels. There may also be some requirement to source and order materials.

The role will include ensuring that inhouse labelling is correct and that materials are stored appropriately. It will include some stock management and stock checking and liaising with warehouse and lab teams. The role will report into the operational excellence team and there will be an expectation to help drive continual improvement within our laboratory ways of working.

Requirements

  • Degree in Chemistry
  • An appreciation of chemical hazards and GHS labelling is essential.
  • Excellent understanding of chemical naming nomenclature and the ability to use online data sources to verify information

  • Possess excellent IT skills.
  • Good chemical knowledge with an appreciation of the importance of material specifications, certificate of analysis and safety data sheets.
