Chief Finance Officer

Full Job Description

We are delighted to be the exclusive recruitment partner for the appointment of a new Chief Finance Officer to join the Diocesan Multi Academy Trust, based at their office in Ipswich.

You will lead the financial strategy for the trust and support the 21 Church of England primary schools across Suffolk. You will have both a strategic leadership and a technical role, ensuring sound financial management, managing contracts, preparing and monitoring budgets and ensuring the delivery of annual consolidated accounts.

Responsibilities include:

• Provide accurate and timely financial information and ensure regulatory compliance
• Provide professional advice and support to the headteachers
• Lead the finance team and the wider finance function across all schools in monitoring and controlling financial operations
• Prepare consolidated year end accounts for the Multi Academy Trust (MAT)
• Produce timely, accurate and appropriate reports and financial forecasts for the MAT Board and Finance and Audit Committee
• Liaise with external auditors and take appropriate action on any audit report findings

Key skills:

• Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with relevant post qualified experience
• Have an in-depth understanding of internal financial controls and compliance
• Experience from the public/charity sector would be preferred but not essential
• Ability to work to strict deadlines
• Manage and mentor teams across the MAT
• Excellent communicator
