We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced scientist with an entrepreneurial mindset to join the c-suite managerial team at Concrete4Change.
Job Title: Chief Scientific Officer
Location: Nottingham
Remuneration: Up to £140,000 salary plus £60k share options per annum
Start date and end date (approx): This is a permanent position and is available for immediate start. (Flexible on start date based on notice period)

Concrete4Change (C4C) is a R&D company that is developing a ground-breaking technology to utilise and permanently mineralise CO2 in concrete. To date, C4C raised £4.5 million from private and public investors. The company is partly owned by two of the largest concrete manufacturers in the world, Siam Cement Group ($17 billion turnover) and Goldbeck GmbH (€7 billion turnover).

Job description:
As the CSO, you have an entrepreneurial mindset and the responsibility for developing and implementing all aspects of the C4C technology that drives this business forward. You will work with the executive team to identify opportunities for innovation and ensure that their technology is aligned with the core business objectives. You will be responsible for leading a team of chemists and engineers to deliver high-quality technology solutions that meet the needs of our customers
Please consider this position is designed for an entrepreneur and is not a 9-5 job.
Person’s specifications
Essential:
- 10+ years post PhD experience leading independent research, ability to design and conduct research addressing fundamental scientific questions
- Experience managing team and budget.
- Understating of concrete and cement chemistry, with a focus on mineral carbonation.
- Understanding carbonation mechanisms, and critical assessment of CO2 uptake
- Extensive experience in Carbon Dioxide Utilisation.
- PI or co-PI on academic research projects or equivalent industrial experience.
Desirable:
- Experience in computational modelling
- Mineralisation of CO2 for various applications
