Children's Residential Worker

AKTON Recruitment is working closely with the local
authorities and wea re looking for a Children's Residential Worker in
the Conwy area. Enhanced DBS.
Job Purpose:
To ensure that Looked After Children & Young People
receiving short breaks/looked after full time in Conwy receive the
appropriate levels and standards of care and support, that is based on
helping children and/or young people live their life differently as
they are
living it day to day.
To provide focused, timely,
reliable, and responsive support that allows for the child/young
person to learn and practice new thoughts, feelings, and actions in
the most important areas of their lives, via applied therapeutic
knowledge and a genuinely caring relationship that creates a happy and
safe environment.
Care Workers can work in other care settings
within the county. Settings include those supporting individuals with
learning disabilities and /or complex emotional and behavioural needs
and full training and support will be provided.
Duties
and Responsibilities - Job Specific
1. To be able to
develop trusted professional relationships with children and young
people to keep them safe, balancing empowerment and limit setting in a
nurturing, supportive and consistent way
2. Demonstrate commitment,
openness, and willing to engage with the approach to the model of care
in order to facilitate the therapeutic needs of children/young
people.
3. To deliver child-centred care and support ensuring that
children and young people receiving care and support that responds to
their individual needs. and involves them in matters and decisions
that affect them
4. To create a homely, warm, kind, friendly,
environment ensuring that all your actions are transparent and open
for discussion in professional supervision in accordance with the
National Code of Professional Practice for Social Care
5.To
undertake sleep-in duties, work unsociable hours and complete live /
waking night duties at various locations as required to meet the
individual or group needs of children and young
people.
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge & Skills Good level of education, Educated to GCSE, Grade C level (5 or more GCSE's) or QCF Level 2 in Health and Social Care/Social Practice (or equivalent)
- QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent or ability to study at Diploma level
- Experience of working effectively with young people who present challenging behaviours, to downplay risks and dangers through minimalist and casual language and actions
