Civil Engineer

Responsible to: Senior Civil Engineer

Role Purpose:

To work effectively as a Civil Engineer, you must work successfully with other Engineers in the team, manage projects, and produce effective designs in engineering materials. It is essential that you take responsibility for the analysis and designs carried out on our projects and manage your time effectively to ensure projects are delivered on time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Undertake appropriate analysis and prepare design calculations, drawings, and reports with little supervision from a Senior Engineer and in a form that can readily be checked by another member of staff.
  • Support Senior Engineers in project design from commencement to completion.
  • Influence development and infrastructure master-planning using knowledge of Highways Act 1980, Water industry Act 2004, Land Drainage Act, New Roads and Street Works Act, and other Statutory Instruments etc. as required.
  • Produce high-quality designs for feasibility, costing and construction purposes, highways & drainage, street works, public works, SUDS, building drainage, utilities coordination/diversion as services if and when required by our clients.
  • Undertake the co-ordination of thorough site investigations, complete inspections, and identify and resolve any issues as appropriate.
  • Undertake production and approval of single- and multi-discipline fee proposals for client/customer projects in accordance with Clancy Consulting procedures, terms and conditions or customer-specific contract requirements.
  • Undertake accurate and timely assessments of variations and appraisal of fee cost and/or timescale impacts, and agreement with client/customer organisations.
  • Manage engineering teams to ensure utilisation and recovery targets are monitored and achieved.
  • Offer leadership, mentoring, encouragement, and motivation to junior engineers.
  • Enforce financial control of projects when acting as a Project Manager.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with team members, clients, and other construction professionals regarding projects.
  • Represent the company at design team meetings with clients and other construction professionals.
  • If not already Chartered, work towards your Chartership with the support of your mentor and colleagues in a regular and systematic manner.
  • Keep your professional development up-to-date with IPD/CPD expectations and/or Membership requirements of the ICE.
  • Recognise the importance of clear communication with all members of the design and/or construction team regarding matters of structural safety and keep up-to-date with information provided by CROSS.
  • Manage your time effectively, and complete and submit your timesheets accurately in a timely manner.

Software Capabilities:

  • Use AutoCAD , PDS Site Developer /Civil 3D. XP Solution suite , Micro-Drainage , MS Project or similar , TEDDS and other industry-recognised software

Education/Professional Requirments:

  • BEng/MEng or equivalent degree from a JBM-accredited course in Civil Engineering or associated subject
  • If not already chartered ,near Chartership with the institution of civil engineers.
