We are looking for an Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist / Associate Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our high performing team at our Cancer centre based within the Cromwell hospital in Kensington, London.

Depending on experience, this could be a junior role suitable for someone looking to develop your career or a senior role with the potential for further development in leadership and management.  As the Oncology Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will act as a professional resource for the multi-professional team, patients and carers. You are responsible for supporting patients with a wide range of tumour types and further developing the service to support management of increasingly complex patient pathways. You will be able to practice independently providing expert, evidence-based care. As a centre of excellence specialising in complex cancer care, we receive national and international referrals, with complex disease and symptoms requiring holistic expert support.

Hours: Full-time (37.5), permanent.


What you’ll do:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work in partnership with Consultants, Centre Leader, the clinical and administration team to develop and provide an expert robust CNS service provision.
  • Function as an expert clinical practitioner and source of expertise within the Oncology service.
  • Work in partnership with the Cromwell Hospital Oncology team, including SACT suite and Oncology ward, to develop robust safe patient pathways.
  • Work in the clinic areas of GenesisCare centre so that all operational objectives and standards are achieved, and the reputation of GenesisCare for exceptional service and outcomes is maintained at all times
  • Proactively deliver safe, effective and personal care in a caring and compassionate manner ensuring streamlined pathways
  • Coordinate and manage transitions of care and support for the patient and family/carer through the patient pathway
  • Provide expert nursing advice and support to other healthcare professionals involved in the patients care
  • In collaboration with Centre Leader, Lead therapy radiographers and Consultants; develop standards of care and patient oncology treatments pathways that reflect Patient needs
  • Proactively seek to improve the service, working with key stakeholders to continuously improve referral waiting times and access to treatment

Qualifications and Knowledge:

  • Registered nurse (Level 1 Adult branch NMC) degree level– Essential
  • Working experience in Oncology-Essential.
  • Demonstrate up to date knowledge of current Oncology management pathways and associated treatments.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience in management of cancer and treatment related complications.
  • Hold a relevant qualification in Oncology at level 2/3 - Desirable.
  • IT literate

Other requirements for this role:

  • Primarily work Monday to Friday office hours but will participate in out of hours working where necessary to support service delivery
