Clinical Specialist – Neurological Occupational Therapist

Salary: Up to £
42,150.35 Per year

We have an opportunity for a Clinical Specialist – Neurological Occupational Therapist to join their team of staff in the Physiotherapy department.

This is a full time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern, Monday to Friday, occasional weekends.

What we are looking for:

  • Member of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists (RCOT)
  • Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Knowledge of RCOT and HCPC Codes and guidelines and their implications for practice.
  • Knowledge of the Care Standards Act and Care and Quality Commission Requirements.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills, including risk management.
  • Advanced training/recognised qualifications in specialist area. For example Managment of a neurological upper limb and cognitive rehabilitation of the neurological patient.
  • Proficient in the use of a PC, including the use of software and systems.
  • Demonstrates a professional manner at all times.
  • Enthusiastic, proactive and driven to succeed.

Duties of this role include:

  • Provide specialist assessment and treatment for outpatients, inpatients, and post operative follow-up care as appropriate.
  • Provide a comprehensive assessment to inform patient goals and treatment plans.
  • Provide clinical support to junior members within the team.
  • Provide leadership to junior members of the team.
  • To have key worker responsibility ensuring the management of an individualised rehabilitation programme.
  • Engage with the Clinical Services Manager for clinical support, organisation of peer review, specialist CPD and national operational processes and marketing.
  • Make an active contribution to the marketing, promotion and development of services within the hospital, working closely with the local and regional marketing team, consultants and GP referrers.
  • To ensure compliance with appropriate regulatory and best practice frameworks.
