Clinical Team Leader Scrub ( Cardiac, Orthopaedic or Neurosurgery and Spinal )

Cromwell Hospital, Kensington SW5 0TU (5 mins walk from Earls Court underground or 7 mins walk from Gloucester Road underground .)

Permanent

Full time 37.5 hours p/w Monday to Saturday, plus additional shift enhancements for weekend working - various shift patterns available

Salary from £44,457 to £49,083 depending on experience.

Our main adult theatre is a busy and dynamic environment, setting the benchmark for clinical excellence. We have 5 operating suites catering for Cardiac, Orthopaedics, ENT and Ophthalmic, Plastics, General/Vascular, Urology and Gynaecology. We work with surgeons who are the best in their specialities carrying out simple to the more complex surgeries.

The Clinical Team Leader (Theatres) is responsible for providing skilled clinical and technical assistance as a member of the operating theatre team and to participate in the assessment and delivery of patient care needs. They will work clinically as well as people manage.

What you’ll do:

  • Assist in the positioning and preparation of a patient as directed by the surgical team and ensure that any specimens are correctly labelled and dispatched to the laboratory.
  • Help to control cross infection by observing departmental policy regarding dress, the maintenance of a clean working environment, decontamination and sterilisation procedures and asepsis.
  • Prepare patients for clinical/ operative procedures, both in anaesthetics and surgery.
  • Provide assistance in clinical/ operative procedures, both anaesthetics and surgery.
  • Provide immediate post-operative care.
  • Assessing, planning, delivering and evaluation of peri-operative patient care
  • Actively lead in the line management of a defined group of staff ensuring robust delegation and supervision of junior grades, unqualified and less experienced staff.
  • Actively participate in the effective management of resources within the department
  • Be a highly visible and accountable leader who actively participates in the effective management of the theatre department.

What you’ll bring:

  • RN – 1ST level Registration Adult and/or Children
  • Diploma or Degree in  Health Care Studies
  • ODP Level 3 NVQ
  • ODA 752
  • Have both clinical and people management experience
  • Theatre, Anaesthetic or Recovery course
  • Previous experince in Cardiac, Orthopaedic or Neurosurgery and Spinal
  • NMC or HCPC registered
