Job Summary

As the Commercial Director you will play a crucial role in driving our business growth and ensuring our commercial success with our largest customer Airbus.

Reporting directly to the SVP for Airbus within GKN Aerospace you will act as a partner to the leadership team globally.  You will be responsible for developing and executing effective commercial strategies, maximizing revenue, and identifying new business opportunities. Your leadership skills and strategic mind-set will be instrumental in fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders including customers, suppliers, and industry partners.

You will be the functional lead for a team of commercial professionals within the programmes organization and focus on developing their skills and building a robust commercial workforce. 

You will be the subject matter expert in the team, enabling our Programme Directors and Managers to navigate commercial issues and acting as a point of escalation for more strategic and complex matters. 

Job Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement commercial strategies and plans to drive business growth and profitability.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including partnerships, collaborations, and market expansion.
  • Matrix manager to a high-performing commercial team, providing guidance, coaching, and support.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, suppliers, and industry partners.
  • Monitor market trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs to identify potential risks and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless coordination and execution of commercial initiatives.
  • Prepare and present financial reports, forecasts, and budgets to senior management.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, or a related field preferred
  • Proven experience in a senior commercial leadership role within the aerospace or manufacturing industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of the aerospace market, industry trends, and customer requirements.
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute successful commercial strategies.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis and budgeting.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment – able to take a strategic view whilst also understanding the detail
