Full Job Description

We are looking for a Composites Technician to join our small team. We manufacture bespoke carbon fibre and other composite components to a very high standard of finish, primarily for the superyacht industry.

Experience is preferred but optional, as Shipyard Supply Co. will provide on-site training. 

Experience in a related trade such as boat building, automotive finishing or other fine finishing or spray coatings is desired.

The job will involve laying up parts using wet layup, infusion, and pre-preg methods, trimming and assembling components, and painting or clear-coat finishing. 

The ideal candidate will have a good eye for detail, a high level of motivation and be able to work in a clean, tidy and organised manner.

Duties :

– Cutting, trimming, and shaping composite materials to required specifications

– Assembling composite parts and components using hand/power tools

– Applying adhesives, resins, and other bonding agents to composite materials

– Inspecting finished products for quality and adherence to specifications

– Performing repairs and modifications on composite parts as needed

Requirements :

– Previous experience working in a similar manufacturing environment

– Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments

– Basic mechanical knowledge and understanding of assembly processes

– Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work orders

– Strong attention to detail and quality control

– Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks and lift heavy objects

– Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team

Pay is hourly with a standard 38.5-hour week. Pay is dependent upon skills and experience.

The opportunity for overtime is often available.

Job Type : Full-time, Monday to Friday

Salary : £19,529.32-£37,717.09 per year
