Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Senior Manager to join our Transportation Business Line in any of our New England offices. This position will oversee civil-site design technical work that involves site planning, land development, municipal transportation infrastructure, multimodal facilities, complete streets, active transportation, and urban places. The Senior Manager will monitor staffing, participate in business development and serve as a Project Manager on civil-site projects.  This will involve interacting with key internal and external clients and assisting in the leadership of project delivery teams while expanding AECOM’s customer base.  The candidate in this role will be an instrumental partner in developing the growth of our Civil-Site practice in the Northeast US.  

Our New England offices include: Boston, MA; Chelmsford, MA; Rocky Hill, CT; Portland, ME; Manchester, NH.

These are a sampling of some of the exciting projects our group works on:

Head of the Charles Regatta Master Planning Project – Boston, MA

  • Develop a framework and masterplan in a manner that sigificatnly limits the impacts to the Charles River parkland and creates opportunity for active resource stewardship. Civil engineering for green infrastructure, stormwater management, crowd management, pedestrian access, permanent event infrastructure.

Entertainment District Development – Everett, MA

  • Civil and Transportation engineering team member for multi-phase redevelopment of contaminated sites from former industrial uses into an exciting, mixed use entertainment district along the waterfront of the Mystic River.

Off-Shore Wind – Northeast US

  • Design and development of ports to support the off-shore wind industry in the Northeast. Terminal designs for pre-assembly and marshalling of turbine components.

National Multi-Site Projects

  • AECOM’s clients include large commercial companies with multiple facilities across the country that require civil design for new developments, renovations, and improvements at existing facilities.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS ROLE INCLUDE:

Project Management

  • Manage multi-disciplined development and transportation projects from scoping through project delivery.
  • Lead public meetings, agency coordination, and client interface efforts.
  • Track and manage budgets using Oracle and Excel-based tools.
  • Effectively lead and communicate ensuring successful client interaction.
  • Direct and manage the entire project, giving guidance to subordinate managers, enforcing company and project policies, and act as primary liaison between AECOM and client interface. 
  • Accountable for all facets of the project are constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule. 
  • Overall responsibility and management of project including but not limited to budgeting/schedule stage, procurement, through contract closeout. 
  • Position has primary fiscal responsibility and key liaison between client for assigned project.

Strategic Growth

  • Participate in Business Development to leverage AECOM’s comprehensive capabilities to grow and expand market presence and win new business and clients in the transportation and civil-site sector.
  • Foster and enhance client development and engagement through strategic in-person marketing activities.

People Leadership

  • Supervise, mentor and/or coordinate the work of junior and mid-level staff, to build and strengthen project delivery teams.
  • Promote and strengthen team focus on technical quality, responsiveness, and client service within the project delivery teams.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Land Planning or Transportation Planning or a relevant field + 10 years of related experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education 
  • P.E. License 
  • Valid Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices
  • Due to the nature of the job, must be a US Citizen

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8 years of experience managing civil site and transportation projects 
  • 4 years of experience with team leadership, resource management, business development
  • Experience with site planning, land development, active transportation, municipal transportation infrastructure, multimodal facilities, complete streets, and urban designs

Offered rate of compensation (Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $165,000 - $200,000.
