Job Description

A great opportunity for well-qualified integrative psychotherapists and clinical/counselling psychologists with five years’ experience (including in-training experience) to join our friendly Re…root team of Associates. You would provide individual therapy on a sessional basis. If you are also able to offer couple counselling that would be welcomed.

The Associate role involves working with Re…root clients

  • using an integrative or pluralistic approach including CBT/CBT-based mindfulness, or similar techniques to provide symptom relief

  • integrating the above with third wave psychodynamic work to address unhelpful repeating patterns

  • within a warm, relational approach.

This successful candidate will work closely with the Clinical Director who will oversee the allocation of clients to you. You will take full clinical responsibility and accountability for your clinical practice and managing your caseload.

You must be able to offer at least 10-12 hours a week (all sessions are 50 minutes long). Because peak client demand is in the evening we would need you to work on at least two weekday evenings, with some weekday morning availability too (particularly on two of the following mornings: Wednesday, Thursday  and Friday).  There will be capacity to extend these hours after a settling in period, depending on your availability.

The fees we offer are competitive. The fee scale will be sent to you if you reach the preliminary interview stage (usually a phone interview). The quoted fees are after room costs, advertising and administrative costs have been covered.

  • accreditation with BACP/ full registration with UKCP/, full registration with BPS/BABCP

We welcome applicants who have experience as a member of a multi-disciplinary team in the NHS in primary care, or as a member of a charity-based service such as Mind, and preferably some knowledge of independent practice as well.

  • ability to work with a range of presenting issues including depression, anxiety, bullying, anger management, eating disorders, relational issues plus competence to work with those clients experiencing serious psychological disorders.

  • ability to combine symptom relief with third wave psychodynamic understanding of unhelpful patterns of relating/behaviour. (Applicants with an integrative training must have theoretical training and experience of putting together CBT and third wave psychodynamic approaches).

  • to be available for an agreed number of blocks of 3-4 hours including at least two evenings a week from 5-9pm and daytime blocks preferably on a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday morning on a regular  weekly basis.

  • to adhere to current BACP/UKCP/BPS/BABCP ethical guidelines and to know Re...root’s own written working practices including maintaining ethical boundaries.

  • to have a Enhanced DBS certificate (current or on application) and references from two therapy employers and a clinical supervisor(s).
