Join our Leeds-based finance team as Credit Manager (fixed term) starting February 2024.    This is a role where you can enjoy hybrid working , to give you the work-life balance to work from home and the office.  

We are looking for an experienced manager to oversee the processing and verification of credit applicati ons, overdue account payments , credit card payment processing and overall improving cash collections to minimise financial risks.  

Your role is important in ensuring our in-house team of credit professionals receive ongoing support, development, and coaching , whilst joining weekly update calls, challenging results, and understanding issues and areas of improvement concerning external 3rd party support. 

The role can be unpredictable at times; therefore, our successful candidate will have strong problem-solving skills , with a passion for ensuring best practices are followed and strong communications channels are in place to reduce the impact on wider projects and customers.

The Ideal Person Will Have:

  • Proven experience in Credit Management
  • Strong leadership skills, able to influence positive change and process improvements
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to plan and prioritise in line with targets and objectives
  • Experienced in managing stakeholders and project implementation
  • A people person, able to bring out the best in the team and support ongoing engagement and development.
  • Ability to engage and challenge decisions to ensure the best outcome in line with strategic objectives
  • Experience with working with an outsource BPO
  • Experience in analysing and interpreting data using excel confidently

What you will be doing: 

  • Overseeing a team responsible for researching and verifying credit data of customers to establish or update lines of credit..
  • Assessing, recommending and/or approving credit limits.
  • Overseeing the investigation and resolution of customer invoice disputes to facilitate payment from or issuance of credit to customers.
  • Responsible for team reviewing customer accounts for the aging of unpaid balances and pending orders, soliciting payments on overdue accounts, and placing delinquent accounts on ‘hold’ status until payment arrangements are secured or payment plans/schedules are determined.
  • Managing the teams' solicitation of payments on overdue accounts the follow-up of payment arrangements and the transfer of outstanding customer accounts to collection agencies.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with outside credit and/or collection agencies.
  • Responsibility for the team maintaining a variety of files and records associated with delinquent accounts, incomplete files, and credit risks.
  • Improving productivity through process improvement, policy/procedure development, and systems refinement.
  • Responsible for managing the negotiation of terms, credit structure, settlements, etc.
  • Reviewing and advising on credit and collections analyses/reports/presentations.
  • Providing direction to internal Credit & Collections staff, external contractors, vendors, and other third-party personnel.
  • Working with our BPO to assess periodic KPI’s and SLA’s, improvement areas, offering support and guidance 
  • Other duties as assigned
