Job Duties
Virginia’s Department of
Motor Vehicles (DMV) is looking for a service-oriented professional to
work as a Part-Time (Wage) Customer Service Technician at at various
locations within the Portsmouth District Customer Service Centers
(Chesapeake, Norfolk/Military Circle, Norfolk/Widgeon Rd, Portsmouth,
Suffolk, VA Beach/Buckner, VA Beach/Hilltop). If you possess strong
customer service and cash/credit card handling experience, problem
solving skills, with a willingness to learn, and want a career with
growth opportunities, we would like to talk with you.
The
selected applicant will handle various customer transactions including
communicating policies, procedures, and regulations; issuing IDs;
processing applications; administering vision, driver, and in-car road
tests. In addition, processing diverse vehicle registrations and
titling, tax collection, and other DMV-related services. Training will
be provided to ensure your success.

This is a wage position limited to working no
more than 1,500 hours per agency during the 12-month period of May 1 –
April 30, regardless of the hire date. The wage employment period
resets on May 1 of the following year. All wage employees are limited
to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12-month
period. This wage position offers no state benefits.
The
Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), headquartered in
Richmond, Virginia, serves approximately 6.2 million licensed drivers
and ID card holders with over 8.4 million registered vehicles. In
addition, DMV serves a wide array of businesses, including dealers,
fuels tax customers, rental companies, driving schools, other state
agencies, local governments, and non-profit organizations. DMV

Minimum Qualifications
Job Requirements:
-Customer
service experience working in a fast paced
environment.
-Experience using a personal computer or other
automated systems.
-Excellent oral and written communication
skills.
-Experience handling cash/credit card
transactions.
-Flexibility to work M-F and Saturday.
-Strong
organizational, time management, problem solving and multitasking
skills.
-Must have attention to detail, accuracy, and complete
assignments on time.
-Experience working in a team or group
environment.
-Experience interpreting and explaining complex
policies and procedures.
-High School diploma or general education
degree (GED).
-Can lift 10 – 25 pounds.
