Job Summary

The Dean of Institutional Advancement is responsible for the overall leadership and management to the institution's promotion and fundraising activities. The Advancement Office includes Institutional Research and Effectiveness, Gifts, and Grants.

Job Duties:

• Provide leadership to the Advancement functional area consistent with the mission of the college in cooperation with the Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) and senior college officers.

• Guide functional area strategic and annual planning activities based on the college strategic plan including developing and accessing annual unit plans within the functional area.

• Establishes and implements short and long-range resource development strategies, goals, objectives, and strategic planning in conjunction with the President and the leadership team.

• Develop, implement, and monitor an annual budget related to the goals and operational needs of the Advancement functional area. Monitors performance monthly and maintains an on-going forecast for year-end projections.

• Proactively ensures that the college develops strong long-term relations with large scale individual, foundation, and corporate donors/funders. Personally, builds and maintains key relations to ensure fund development strategy is achieved.

• Directly responsible for grant writing and review of all other submissions written by college employees.

• Ensure compliance with Kentucky Community and Technical College System and college policies and procedures.

• Build and maintain strong community relationships by contacts with elected officials, agencies, organizations, institutions, the media and community groups, partner agencies, and businesses.

• Participate in professional organizations and professional development opportunities.

• Participate in college and system organizational development activities including service on college or system committees or involvement in other initiatives as assigned.

• Develop and maintain information network with colleagues and counterparts in the system and in higher education.

• Participate with the president and all college functional areas including Academic Services, Human Resources, Finance and Facilities, and Student Development in planning overall college operations and initiatives.

• Other duties assigned by the President.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s Degree (higher education administration, public relations, resource development or related field) and two years related work experience, or equivalent.
