Full Job Description

What you’ll be doing:

As Design Engineer at Ashtead Technology, you will execute and lead the design process from ideation to production, creating new designs and maintaining existing designs.


During the creation process, you will be responsible for ensuring that our designs meet all necessary design responsibilities; conforming to relevant legislation, regulation, standards and sound engineering practices, as well as internal procedures and ISO 9001: 2015 / ISO 45001: 2018 QHSE Management System requirements.

Day to day you will be involved in producing 3D designs & engineering drawings from concept to manufacture, assembly and test. You will ensure the design meets manufacturing, technical and customer requirements whilst keeping safety and quality at the forefront of every decision.

What else will you be involved in?


  • Producing design calculations & reports, bill of materials, operations & maintenance manuals, test documents, risk assessments and other documents as necessary.
  • Identifying suitable suppliers for required parts & components.
  • Identifying necessary documentation / test reports & certificates for components.
  • Inspecting ordered goods upon delivery to ensure conformity to purchase order and other specific requirements.
  • Practical and hands on workshop activities such as aiding with and/or overseeing manufacture, assembly and testing activities.

 

What experience you’ll bring:

What will help you be successful in this role?

  • You will hold a qualification in Mechanical Engineering, such as an HND or Bachelors Degree
  • You will have previous experience in a Design Engineer role, specifically with experience of subsea hydraulic design, ROV tooling / decommissioning tools
  • You have experience working with Solidworks or other professional 3D packages
  • Ideally you will have experience with FEA, but this is not essential.

You will also be a team player, an effective communicator and comfortable in building relationships within the team and the wider organisation.
