Full Job Description

Do you have a strong subject knowledge and practical skills in design and technology concepts and techniques?

Do you hold a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) for secondary school or an equivalent teaching certification essential for this role?

Do you have the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and engage students in active learning experiences?

We are looking for enthusiastic Design and Technology Teachers to inspire and engage our students of KS3 and KS4 in Kirkham/Blackpool. This is a part time role starting from June 2024 and the daily pay rate for this position varies between 155 and 230, depending on your experience, qualifications, and teaching level.

This role offers you the chance to deliver dynamic and interactive lessons, enabling students to unleash their creativity and hone practical skills in design and technology. The successful candidate will be instrumental in fostering student's interests and talents, equipping them for future careers and higher education.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to subject development by producing, reviewing and updating curriculum plans and schemes of work
  • Strong knowledge of the curriculum
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Teach classes allocated and provide a well planned challenging, purposeful learning environment
  • Develop approach to self - directed learning, use technology to support learning
  • Use assessment data to inform lesson planning
  • Set homework and mark promptly
  • Ensure a high quality of teaching and learning takes place
  • Deal with immediate problems/emergencies according to school policy and procedures
  • Respond to questioning

  • Managing behaviour of pupils whilst undertaking work to ensure a constructive environment
  • Strong classroom management
  • Motivated and enthusiastic demeanour
  • Be an inspiring and engaging communicator
  • Use imagination and innovation to enhance learning experience

Personal attributes:

  • You will have a genuine passion for teaching
  • Experience up to key stage 3/4
  • QTS/PGCE equivalent
  • Be flexible and committed
