Developmental Project Environmental Specialist - Algrave, Portugal

 

Leap29 have a fantastic new opportunity based in Portugal as a Developmental Project Environmental Specialist for a working for A well-developed Renewable Energy Company. The job requires an individual to oversee that the new projects developed, are implemented in an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Environmental assessment:

Conducting environmental assessments, including site surveys and impact assessments, to identify potential environmental risks and impacts associated with renewable energy projects.

  • Environmental management:

Developing and implementing environmental management plans, including mitigating environmental risks and impacts, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and standards.

  • Permitting and licensing:

Securing necessary permits and licenses, including environmental permits, and ensuring that projects comply with all applicable environmental regulations and standards. Continuously develop their understanding of current environmental legislation

  • Stakeholder engagement:

Engaging with stakeholders, including local communities, government agencies, and environmental organizations, to manage environmental risks and impacts associated with renewable energy projects.

  • Environmental monitoring:

Monitoring and reporting on environmental performance and compliance, including conducting regular site inspections and preparing environmental reports.

  • Design and implement effective employee training programs.
  • Prepare clear and detailed written reports about field inspections.

 

Candidate Requirements:

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent understanding of environmental regulations and standards in Portugal, as well as international environmental standards, such as ISO 14001.
  • Good knowledge of health and safety programs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and manage environmental risks and impacts associated with renewable energy projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders and build relationships.
  • Experience in environmental management and assessment, as well as a strong understanding of the renewable energy sector.
  • The development and project environmental specialist should have a strong commitment to environmental sustainability and be knowledgeable about the latest environmental best practices and technologies. They should be able to work effectively as part of a project team and be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment. The ability to think critically, analyse data, and make informed decisions is also essential for this role.
  • Aptitude to solve problems quickly with advanced conflict resolution skills.
