Director Job Specification

A Director must have 8+ years experience in order to preform their role at Optima. The role is to manage a portfolio of clients, play an active role in the growth of Optima, both in business development and internally.

Key tasks in this role involve:

General on-going client management:

  • Manages and leads a portfolio of 20+ clients and able to respond promptly and appropriately to queries from clients and/or delegates on the team
  • Confidently lead sales pitches, both in terms of proposals and in the client facing pitch
  • Deep technical FCA regulatory knowledge for the asset management sector and the rules which apply to such entities
  • Competently deals with difficult clients and situations with ease
  • Effectively determines deadlines, whilst managing client expectations across the client portfolio
  • Scopes client engagements and projects and effectively prices potential work
  • Drafts external publications and speaks at conferences and events
  • Detailed understanding of MiFiD II, AIFMD, (knowledge of UCITS would be advantageous) and other relevant European and/or US Regulations
  • Review and sign off compliance manuals to a standard that the client is able to adopt
  • Identifying, driving and leading the development of new content when necessary for clients;
  • Draft new policies in response to regulatory change

Internal Relations

  • Ability to train team members in their field of expertise in an effective manner;
  • Is approachable and a go-to person for additional support and guidance on regulation/client queries
  • Ownership of any reportees; inclusive of personal development, setting objectives, regular on the job training and catch ups
  • Actively making a valuable contribution to the growth of the frim
  • Attend and network at seminars and conferences to represent Optima, summarise any topics covered for colleagues and be able to impart learned knowledge to clients
  • Produce content for our client newsletter and suggest ideas/topic for the future articles
  • Effectively communicates and manages deadlines, both to the client and internally amongst the team/delegates
  • Ability to give constructive and useful feedback on completed tasks from team members.

Technical Expertise:

  • Is seen as an expert and is a go-to person across a range of regulation
  • Ability to give concise and clear explanations on complex regulatory concepts and requirements
  • Identifying potential opportunities to upsell a piece of work/secondment/project with clients
