Full Job Description
We’re looking for a Duty Practitioner to provide support and advice to people who have experienced homelessness. Working at either our male or female scheme, you’ll make sure customers feel comfortable, are managing their tenancy and signpost them to other support such as housing, health and welfare.
Our schemes are 24/7 so you’ll work on a rota between 8am and 11pm.
Job requirements
- Provide and maintain a friendly and supportive environment at the scheme.
- Cover reception tasks including phone calls, post and enquiries.
- Support customers in managing their rent and service charge payments, including their benefit claims where necessary.
- Undertake regular health and safety room checks.
- Support customers and provide crisis intervention where necessary.
- Provide advice on housing, health, welfare benefit claims and other issues as necessary.
- Arrange appointments for customers with services such as GPs and DWP and accompany customers on visits to other services if needed.
What we’re looking for
- Someone with a genuine understanding and compassion for people without a home, who won’t judge but instead will empower customers and give them a voice.
- A flexible and adaptable approach and someone able to work around the needs of the customer.
- Some experience dealing with the public and/or customers in a busy service environment.
- Some experience dealing with complex/ difficult behaviours in relation to women experiencing multiple disadvantages.
- Great communication skills.
- Lived experience would be an advantage.
