Full Job Description

Your new company
We are seeking to recruit an Electrical Design Engineer to join a growing and ambitious company in the power generation sector from their impressive office and production facility in Portadown. You will be responsible for designing and testing electrical systems and their components. You will work on developing, maintaining, implementing, and improving electrical systems and their components. Your duties will include

  • Designing generator control systems and associated equipment.
  • Updating and managing wiring schematics.
  • Conducting technical calculations.
  • Reviewing component/sub-systems suppliers.
  • Liaising with in-house panel shop personnel on the assembly/manufacture of products.
  • Completing and applying basic training on engineering standards.
  • Upgrading generators, including but not limited to control panels.
  • Paralleling generator systems.
  • Conducting generator load testing.
  • Commissioning generators.

    Experience with programming Deep Sea, Comap genset controllers and knowledge of Controller Area Network (CAN bus) would be an advantage. Knowledge of Stage V and Tier 4 Final engine control systems would also be an advantage.

    What you'll need to succeed
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Strong technical and manual abilities.
  • Experience in designing and testing electrical systems and their components.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes of practice and national electrical system regulations.
  • Experience of using computer-aided design (CAD), word processing, and file-sharing software.
  • Excellent research abilities.
