We
are seeking an Engineer Application Developer to join our Protection
Core Admin team at Protective Life Corporation. This person selected
for this role will be responsible for designing, coding, testing,
implementing, maintaining, and supporting software systems. Works
closely with business analysts and customers to gather requirements to
ensure the customer’s business needs and expectations are met in a
timely and cost effective manner. Diagnoses, isolates and de-bugs
software problems and provides resolution. Prepares and modifies
technical documentation. Provides on call support.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct research and evaluate information to successfully design and develop systems.
- Design, construct, modify and test system changes
- Ensure systems effectively interact with existing systems/processes
- Understand business needs and provide quality customer support
- Develops an understanding of the business needs. Meet customer requirements, anticipate needs and/or problems and understand the broad impact of changes on customer processes
- Provide appropriate solutions and proactively suggests process improvements
- Provide thorough and complete documentation for all designs following corporate standards
- Provide an appropriate level of feedback to fellow team members, stakeholders and management
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technology related field or 4 years of applicable work experience
- Assembler, COBOL and CICS language expertise
- JCL and VSAM experience required
- IBM mainframe environment (LIFE-COMM, LIFE/70) experience required
- Advanced programming skills with ability to design software solutions that meet complex requirements
- Thorough understanding of various data structures, implementation patterns and practices
- Ability to multitask, manage multiple priorities and work well under the pressure of deadlines
- Ability to solve complex technical problems
- Must be self- motivated, able to work and learn independently, coachable and committed to continuous learning
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members, both verbally and in writing
- Experience in Underwriting and Issue processes preferred
- Experience with PDF and billing is preferred
$60,000 - $75,000 a year
Protective’s targeted
salary range for this position is $60,000 to $75,000. Actual salaries
may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to, job
location, skills, and experience. The range listed is just one
component of Protective’s total compensation package for employees.
This position also offers additional
incentive opportunities through an annual incentive based on
individual and Company performance.
