Full Job Description

Position: Environmental and Social Advisor

Location: Aberdeen

Duration: 12 months, 40 hours a week

Contract: PAYE (33 days holiday)


This Environmental & Social Advisor role will support the management of regulatory compliance and environmental requirements for offshore operations in the North Sea. The successful candidate will join the team and have day to day responsibility for ensuring the regulatory compliance of all wells and survey activity in the region. They will provide advice and leadership on a number of environmental issues across the broader North Sea Region.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Deliver and lead permit and consent applications related to wells (exploration, production, interventions and decommissioning), and survey activities in the North Sea in accordance with the regulatory requirements.
  • Handle regulatory inspections and build relationships with key external stakeholders.
  • Provide technical support and promote environmental good practice to sites through operational support, mentorship and training. Coach and guide leadership on regulatory and environmental requirements.
  • Ensure regulatory and internal reporting requirements are fulfilled.
  • Lead site and system self-verification activities and environmental risk assessments as the need arises.
  • Support ongoing environmental monitoring requirements in support of region licence to operate.
  • Support wells and survey teams to deliver Carbon savings and deliver the net zero emission ambition.
  • Manage the performance of environmental consultants preparing permits
  • Essential Experience and Job Requirements:
  • Broad understanding and experience of the UK regulatory regime and detailed knowledge of systems and reporting requirements.
  • Technical knowledge of drilling and survey operations
  • Track record of leading teams and building and maintaining productive internal and external relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Validated experience in implementing environmental performance improvement; willingness to challenge status quo where appropriate to make change happen.
  • Ability to efficiently prioritize work on a continual basis.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills across all levels of the organisation.
