We also understand balancing work and life commitments is important, that’s why we’ve designed our benefits package to support you in all areas of life.  As standard we have 3 days in (the office) 2 days out (working from home) approach to give you a better balance.

Amongst our other benefits we also offer a great discount platform which gives you money off or cashback for supermarkets, high street shops, days out, holidays, and many more, giving you a little extra to spend on yourself.  Likewise, our bonus is based on company performance, and we pay this quarterly because we don’t want to wait 12 months to reward you for the work you’re doing right now.

About the Role

The Workdry Group has seen enormous growth over recent years and we’re now looking for someone whose passion for the environment and sustainability is the same as our own.  We’re pleased to be adding an Environmental & Sustainability Manager into our friendly SHEQ team based in Middlesbrough, to help create, implement, and monitor our environmental activity for the business.

This is an exciting time to join us as we focus on ensuring we have the very best environmental and sustainability framework.

This role would be perfect for an experienced environmental manager, who has experience of working in this role within a business.

If you have a genuine passion for the environment and sustainability, then this could be the role for you.  We’re looking for someone who has a real belief in the difference a company can make when it comes to environmental impacts and sustainability initiatives, with a forward-thinking vision for future opportunities.

As Environmental & Sustainability Manager, you’ll get to:

  • Develop and review environmental management systems to continually improve the impact of the organisation on the environment.
  • Take the lead on sustainable procurement for all goods and services.
  • Coordinate all aspects of pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health, conservation, and renewable energy.
  • Lead the implementation of environmental policies and practices.
  • You will ensure compliance with environmental legislation and keep up to date with UK, European Union and international regulation and legislation.
  • Liaise with relevant bodies such as local authorities, public bodies, and competent bodies.
  • Audit, analyse and report environmental performance to internal and external clients and regulatory bodies.
  • Undertake immediate investigations in the event of an environmental spill and produce a full report on findings, including root cause analysis and actions for prevention.
  • Make a real difference to the way in which our business impacts the world around us!

About You

The personal behaviours, skills & experience you will display:

  • Demonstrable experience of managing an environmental function (or similar relevant field).
  • Demonstrable extensive knowledge of ISO14001.
  • Able to promote and raise awareness, to influence internal and external stakeholders and effectively gain buy-in for environmental activities.
  • Strong attention to detail, to compile accurate statistics and data, and write factual environmental reports based on this information.
  • Demonstrable commercial awareness and an understanding of our commercial responsibilities to major framework partners, with the ability to work collaboratively with our partners to investigate and resolve any concerns.
  • Able to set organisational sustainability targets, develop plans to meet those targets and oversee their delivery through effective project management.
  • Previous experience of managing a team would be beneficial, but not essential.
  • A Diploma in environmental management (or similar) would be advantageous.
  • Membership of IEMA or CIWEM would be beneficial.

Please note, a full UK driving licence is required for this role as attendance to client sites will be required.  This role will also include occasional overnight stays.
