Role: Trading Manager (Europe)

Location: Edinburgh, Scotland

Work Schedule: Permanent | Full Time | Hybrid

About the Position: As the Trading Manager for Europe, your role centers around overseeing short-term trading operations. You'll delve into the intricacies of the CWE markets and the responsibilities of a trader. Additionally, you'll mentor junior traders, devise effective trading strategies, and develop essential tools for shift desk activities.

Our mission is to lead European short-term trading, and this position plays a pivotal role in enhancing our team and contributing to Energy markets. It represents an exciting opportunity for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Trading Leadership:

    • Spearhead European Day-Ahead (DAH) and Intraday Trading plans, crafting innovative tools and strategies to maximize gains and minimize losses.
    • Develop and maintain operational tools that empower our Operations teams, enhancing their competitiveness and boosting the value of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).
  2. Collaboration and Long-Term Vision:

    • Collaborate closely with other European trading desks to establish cohesive, long-term strategies.
    • Support trade analysts in providing traders with ample trading opportunities.
  3. Relationship Management:

    • Cultivate and manage relationships both within and outside the organization.
  4. Regulatory Compliance:

    • Collaborate with Regulation and Compliance teams to ensure adherence to all relevant rules and regulations.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Economics, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in analyzing the European power market, including a deep understanding of commodity markets, industry players, and driving factors.
  • Ability to create and effectively utilize complex analysis tools and models.
  • Strong communication skills for conveying intricate trade ideas.
  • Aptitude for monitoring trading positions and generating innovative trade concepts.
