Experienced Primary/SEND Teacher needed for a SEND school in Solihull Immediately

A SEND School in Solihull is looking for a dedicated qualified Primary Teacher to join their team full-time, starting ASAP on an ongoing basis.

This calm and therapeutic SEND School is in Solihull and caters for students aged 4-19, who have moderate to severe learning difficulties. They pride themselves in creating a welcoming, motivating, and nurturing atmosphere where every pupil is encouraged and inspired to achieve their potential and develop a love of learning.

You will be responsible for teaching a class of children with additional needs including sensory impairment, meaning that you must be able to adjust your teaching methods and the existing curriculum to meet the needs of each individual child, this may include using sign language or Makaton. It is important that you help and inspire the children to help them reach their true academic potential! Planning is also involved in this role.

The preferred candidate will have:

  • Experience in working with special needs (MLD, SLD)
  • Minimum 6 months’ experience working with children and young people
  • QTS is essential 
  • Excellent knowledge of the National Curriculum
  • Experience of using communication aids such as British Sign Language, Makaton or PECS is advantageous but not essential.
  • Enhanced DBS registered or willing to acquire a new certificate.
  • Can effectively manage behaviour using positive behaviour strategies.
  • Will be kind, caring and patient when dealing with children who require specialist support.
