Full Job Description

Job Brief:

Look after the M&E for 8 buildings in London, Croydon, Essex, and the Bracknell area. With a total of 1,400 flats. You will be responsible for preserving the good condition of infrastructure and ensuring that facilities are safe and well-functioning. You will be based at the Croydon building, however you will be expected to do regular visits to all 8 buildings.


Main responsibilities:


Manage in-house maintenance team:

  • Operatives
  • Engineers
  • Plumbers
  • Electricians
  • Head office administrators


Manage maintenance of building fabric, ensuring buildings meet legislative, regulatory, and

environmental standards such as;


  • Lifts
  • H&S Risk Assessments
  • Fire Risk Assessments
  • Fire compliance
  • Groundskeeping
  • Risk management


  • Project manage, supervise, and coordinate the work and performance of contractors
  • Calculate, challenge, and compare costs for required goods or services to achieve maximum
  • value for money
  • Preparing documents for tenders to contractors
  • Conduct regular inspections. Resolve any major problems detected
  • Implement and manage a robust PPM to minimise system downtime and improve the smooth running


Requirements and skills:


  • Mechanical and Electrical background
  • Fire safety knowledge
  • Ideal if has a construction background
  • Proven experience as facilities manager or relevant position
  • Well-versed in technical/engineering operations and facilities management best practices
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Good analytical/critical thinking
  • Relevant professional qualification (e.g. CFM) will be an advantage
